  • whew..! for a second there, i thought that blues would no longer exist in the future.....

  • The vibe that this guy gives off cannot be described it words. Somewhere between those super smooth vocals and that knock-your-socks-off raw brilliant guitar playing is this hidden gem we know as Gary Clark. I just dont want him to get popular because I want him all to myself!!!!!

  • @Citybright01 Finally, someone with an ear and a brain. He has the same controlled blues solos as Cray - They don't overly excite you, or bore you, but they feel right for the song. It's more about the song than the guitar jam. This is why I have a problem with everyone's knee-jerk reaction, calling him "the next Jimi". It's ridiculous. Maybe he's just another decent blues/rock guy who, during a dead period in the industry, is getting noticed. Maybe it's because he dresses like Lenny Kravitz.

  • @GabiWilsonTV I agree with you on that. I wouldn't want to hear him rap either way.

I was simply disagreeing with your comment, that the hip hop crowd doesn't care how well someone plays the guitar. The average consumers who aren't knowledgeable on the subject perhaps but I'm sure the hip hop heads certainly appreciate it. I think that's true for most popular genres nowadays.

  • @Platano0587 @commonrebellion Most popular American music is based on the blues. You missed my point though.Let me explain.....

James Brown created "The Groove" by "looping" blues changes.Rappers in the 80's and 90's, like "A Tribe called Quest" sampled JB for that reason.

It's not "Blues" it just "rooted" in the blues.

Gary Clark jr. is a great "Blues Player".Can he Rap? Probably so. But I can't picture him bragging about money, women, car's and gun's.Maybe he could do "Conscious Rap".

  • @GabiWilsonTV

I thought exactly the same. Have seen both many times. Sings like AC and play like BB in this one. With some T-Bone thrown in. Good recipe!

Nice point of view on the JM rise to fame vs JL route!!!

  • That's a really stupid generalization. Many of the best and classic rap songs have melodies and drum patterns originated in and taken from blues and jazz. Stop listening to little Wayne, look up a tribe called quest, j dilla, nujabes, 9th wonder, large professor, dj primer, Nas. All would prove blues and jazz are essential and vital to Hip Hop.

  • @GabiWilsonTV "the hip hop crowd doesn't care..."..

well that's just a stupid ass generalization.....

  • i want to marry this kid.

  • Hard to keep this one to yourself, especially after his recent late-night talk show appearance. the word is out!

  • @BlueSpawnRecords I can't see him doing Rap.It's hard to mix rap with blues based music without it sounding cheesy. The Hip Hop crowd doesn't care about how well someone plays guitar anyway.

  • @GabiWilsonTV his roots are rap too....you might not like that?
