The problem was Rocket Rods ran on the old PeopleMover track and it was not designed for a higher speed attraction and it led to all sorts of problems with the speed up and slow down and caused too many parts to wear out.

@loonytunescrazy No. Rocket Rods was put on the Peoplemover track. Peoplemover was a slow and relaxing way to see Tomorrowland and to get off the hot blacktop and rest your feet. Saldy the old peoplemover/ rocket rod track sits and rots away at the park today

@secretname1000able I know where Test Track is. The guy I was replying to said this should be at WDW, so I asked why WDW would ever need one "because WDW already has Test Track and Space Mountain," Sorry for the confusion.

@TheCrazyCoasterKid Test Track is located across the country from where this was, this was at the Disneyland resort, not Disney World.

Thanks for sharing so was this like a rollercoser

@Imagineer5986 Why would we need this with TestTrack and Space Mountain?

@Chito3509 people Mover = Boondoggle.

They should bring back the people mover.

@sideslide23 so sad they can't just repurpose them as an updated version of the people mover or of something like a Rocket Rods with proper tracks

It's not as simple as getting a new track. The old track which was once used for the People Mover was not designed for the speed and fast-paced nature of Rocket Rods, and so the track basically burned/wore out. Because of new OSHA standards, a new track can't be installed without having ugly ladders hanging down from the track every certain amount of feet. Not to mention it would be EXPENSIVE to tear it down and put a new one up. It will, however, be torn down in the next few years permanently.
Celebrate 10 years of unused tracks with bird shits.

I was so young when I went on this ride that I forgot how much it really did have to slow down to make those tight corners. They really should put the money into installing a proper track and reopen the Rocket Rods because it was fun - and with a proper track it could achieve speed that could rival Space Mountain. Rival...but not top it :)
