(Still Joe's P.O.V)
- What are you doing? asked Kevin.
- Nothing!snapped Nick.
- Yeah, is she the reason why you wanted to get dressed for breakfast? She is, isn't she? You like her!
Nick sighed. I didnt want to make a big deal out of it.
- But its not a big deal. Nick, youve liked girls before, and you always told us. But when you told us about last night, you didnt even mention her.
- Cause youd have found out anyway.
- Tell me the truth, how much do you like her?
- I dont know..
Kevin smiled. Since when are you shy?
- Shut up, Nick hissed.
- Whats happening at 5? I asked, humorously.
- Were just gonna play some guitar.
- Oh, thats what they call it these days..., I said, winking to Kevin.
- You couldnt even ask her on a real date? laughed Kevin.
- Guys, leave me alone.
- Come on, Nick, were happy for you, I said. Im going over to Dels later on, and I bet Kevs going to meet with Carmen, so its perfect.
- Yeah... said Nick, reluctantly.
- Really, man, you should get out more often, I teased.
Nick threw the bread at me. I laughed even harder.
Nicks P.O.V
We went back to our room, my brothers started to get ready for their dates. Was no point for me to do the same, there was still plenty of time before my date.
Joe was the first to be ready, and was waiting for Kevin, when he came to me and asked what was wrong.
- I just dont want to get my hopes up, I admitted.
- Hey, its only one date. Chill.
- Easy for you to say.
- Come on, man, I think shes really nice, and she likes music, so youve got something in common. Look, if it doesnt turn into something else, you can always be friends.
- Yeah, sure..
He patted me on the back. Kevin came out of the bathroom. I held my nose.
- Ugh! Dude, you put too much aftershave!
- Its windy outside, he said.
And they left. I had four hours to kill. Yey...
Kevins P.O.V
Carmen said shed be waiting for me at the café, across the street from the hotel. I went in, keeping my scarf over half my face. There were a lot of people inside, but I it wasnt hard to find my Sunshine. There she was, lovely as ever. I liked it when she used that bright blue color for her eyes. It made her shine even more. She laughed at my scarf, and pulled it down, so that she could kiss me. Then, she put it back over my mouth and nose.
- I think you put too much cologne or whatever on, she laughed.
- Sorry, I was in a rush.
Stupid, stupid!, I thought.
Carmens P.O.V
He looked so goofy with that scarf that I could hardly refrain from giggling. The worst part was I had to ask him to repeat himself so many times. The words were just not coming out right through that mask. But I did understand him eventually, it just took more time.
He told me about Nicks little adventure, and about the shock of finding Mr. Portman in their room. I laughed so much. You poor things, I said.
He also asked me to come to the gig with them.
- Sure, I said, and if Joe brings Delia, it will be even better.
- Mmm hmm, he mumbled.
- Im also curious about this girl of Nicks. Is she pretty?
Kevin nodded eagerly.
- Oh, that pretty, huh? I said, widening my eyes.
Kevin laughed, but I still pretended to pout. He liked these games, they put his imagination to the test. I wondered what he was going to do this time to get me out of my mood. At last, he reached for my hand, and using his index finger, he wrote imaginary letters into my palm.
- S,H,E,P,R,E,T,T,Y,U,B,E,A,U,T,I,F,U,L.
I smiled. It was the sweetest thing. I took his palm, and answered him the same way.
- U, C, H, A, R, M, E, R.
He laughed, and we ended up continuing the rest of our conversation without having to speak at all.
