Seems similar to the Not Withstanding Clause in concept.

    Use at your own discretion.

    Thanks for the info

  • @DesertFox111111 yep only in case of seriously inapropriate behaviour from the judge. Judges are protected to assure their independance and impartiality.

  • @gundamWWW

Well in theory the federal government can. But, such power is very limited, and it has never actually been tried.

  • @DesertFox111111

So who has the authority to remove a Canadian Justice on the Supreme Court?

    No one?

  • @gundamWWW

No, the judiciary has three important protections; tenure, salary, and what is known institutional resources.

  • Very Intelligent woman...

  • 'Isoo, by isoo...'

  • If the Prime Minister can install a justice on the bench of the Supreme Court.

Does the Prime Minister have the power to remove a Chief Justice as well?

  • he actually asked her if they take special care with regard to those cases that will be studied...

Every SCC case is studied. Every single one.

  • ugh... send her back to alberta!

    more quebecois on the bench!
