I made this stomp box for a grand total of £1.79! "Ellis Guitars" will sell you one for a modest fee of £250! Buy a piezoelectric buzzer/transducer from an electrical shop (I bought mine from Maplin: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=1&criteria=usb&ModuleNo=320... )

A stomp box is a simple percussion instrument consisting of a small wooden box placed under the foot, which is tapped or stamped on rhythmically to produce a sound similar to that of a bass drum. A stomp box allows a performer such as a singer, keyboardist or guitar player to create a simple rhythmic self-accompaniment. Used by artists such as:

Jamie Cullum
Kurt Cobain
Bill Bourne
Andrew Winton
Nathan Rogers
Xavier Rudd
John Butler
John Lee Hooker
Luka Bloom
Jeff Lang
Tony Joe White
Harry Manx
Ash Grunwald
Tommy Emmanuel
Jon Boden
Seasick Steve
Chris Whitley
Nathan Gaunt
Eddie Vedder
Seth Lakeman
Asher Poindexter
Bjørn Berge
Pete Flood
Seasick Steve
Cask Thompson

  • Were did u get ur piezoeletric buzzer

  • @cordaleb a hardware shop called maplins (read the description box for a full link etc...)

  • Why does yours sound so much better than everybody else's? Did you use a special piezo?

  • @xCommonGoodx well I think it's a combination of the fact that I'm using a bass amp and that I was lucky with the natural sound of the wood. (btw, when I made this video I only had soft plimsoles so I actually taped two small pieces of wood to the bottom of my shoe - this may help?) If I can be of any more assistance don't hesitate :)

  • Hey, love the sound you're getting out of this. I'm having a look on maplin.co.uk, which one of the piezo transducers did you use? There's several models on the page you linked.

  • @haraldcarlens hi, sorry for the late reply. For this particular stomp box I used the YU85G 35/2.8 model for £1.29. I did however buy a selection of different sizes to use in different projects. Good luck in whatever you're undertaking!!

  • Beginner here: I tried this, but don't have a bass amp. I tried plugging it into my stereo sub-woofer, which is plugged in. Does it have to be amplified before going to sub? I have to tap on the transducer directly to produce any sound. Maybe I should buy a cheap bass amp?

  • sounds very good!

  • can i use a transducer

  • Thank you you wonderful person, I'm down to Maplin, can't wait to make mine :)

  • I think somebody is trolling. It sounds way too good.

  • why when i tried this it didnt work?

does the amp have to be on a certain setting

do i need a certain piezo?

    i bought a 3.0 20VDC

    12DC

    10mA max at 12vDC

    75db min at 30cm/12VDC

    2700 500HZ

    idk why it didnt work

  • subbed
