Watch his interview with Keith Olbermann at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmVvWBJVtxY

"United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement. Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college. Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II)."

I joined the Air Force with a simple desire to defend and serve. The majority of our troops including this guy are willing to put themselves physically on the line to protect people he never met. Neither Sgt Thomas, nor I, nor the majority of the military simply see the world as a punching bag to bomb invade and occupy. And yes I'm fully aware 9/11 was an inside job. Consider having more faith in your common man, even if you disagree with them.

  • Sgt Shamar Thomas. I admire you.

  • We are the 99%!!!

  • Cops don't always do the right thing just like our Military doesn't always avoid civilian casualties. Nothing is ever that simple. If you live and NY and don't respect the police I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe go ask a local Police Officer what type of crime is happening just blocks away from where you live. The domestic enemies of this country are just as frightening to me as the foreign ones are.

  • Sgt. Shamar Thomas is someone that kids can look up too, much respect!!!

  • @Silenus6 couldn't agree with you more. (BTW some asshole flaged your comment as spam, obviously truth hurts)

  • @Silenus6 Actually I watched it just before writing the last comment. Watching it reminded me of grateful to God I am that I didn't get assigned to do the things that left that man with guilt.

  • @joshbottube Well said. I'll check out Fabled Enemies, thanks. Check out the video AMAZING SPEECH BY WAR VETERAN, if you haven't already. There's a soldier who truly deserves the respect and attention which Sgt Shamar is receiving now. Peace

  • @Silenus6 I agree entirely. Those wrong reasons you mention are fear and ignorance based. The real enemy is the financial elite (who ARE being protested at Occupy WS). They exploit the public's ignorance, apathy, and fear for profit. I feel sorry for them too - they offer their lives in hopes of a better tomorrow yet are used by politicians for the opposite. Learning and caring for one another becomes contagious when we practice the acts ourselves at home. Watch Fabled Enemies

  • I love that he told off the cops, but is it any better to be hurting people in Iraq? "If you want to hurt people go to Iraq"??? Um, NO. This poor man is about as brainwashed and misguided as those cops if he thinks he was over there protecting his country rather than protecting the interests of millionaires, terrorizing poor people, inciting hatred against the U.S., and killing soldiers who were defending their homeland from an unprovoked foreign invasion.

  • @joshbottube I'm sure his intentions, and yours, are noble, and I admire the courage it takes to put your life on the line like that. However, none of that changes the fact that wars are being fought, and countries invaded, for the wrong reasons. These soldiers may think they are protecting the American people by terrorizing people in other countries, but the fact is they're just protecting the interests of millionaires and making the world a more violent place. I feel sorry for them.

  • @The911watch You took his comment to literal dude. He was just setting an example.
