I am proud to be from Maine with Ms. Pingree fighting for health care reform. The public option will make insurance companies accountable, and it is, as the name so clearly indicates, an OPTION. This is ethical justice.

We require drivers to carry auto insurance. You can't buy a house without insurance (unless you're filthy rich.)
So what's wrong with a bill that requires health insurance that simultaneously covers tens of millions of uninsured Americans and lowers healthcare costs?

This bill is a massive intrusion into the free market. There are several heart breaking stories out there and it is true that life can be tragic. While keeping that in mind, this bill will punish people who opt to not be insured...is that American Democracy as it was intended? This bill is well-intentioned but if it passes, the country will be worse off for it. I'm ashamed that you voted for this bill.
