P.S. - This phenomenon works with ANY fluorescent type bulbs, such as those REALLY LONG tubed fluorescent bulbs (4 ft, 8 ft, LONGER?) Glad so many liked this lil display of such a cool phenomenon!! P.P.S. - FYI, Here are fluorescent devices in the shape of DOLPHINS, as well as plasma devices in the shape of many different things as well, such as alcoholic beverage bottles! This will work w/ ANY of these types of devices! NEAT or what?

Try leaving the bulb in the lamp (switched off), touch the plasma dome with one hand and the CFL bulb with the other. Guess what? Bulb lights! You can do it holding hands with a friend too, let go of your friends hand and the lights go off.

No, Lights can be any way you want them to be. Bulb lights up just the same as if it were plugged into electricity! Very cool! Gr8 question!

I've always been curious as to what would happen if someone were to break the glass around the lamp.

@unrealityproduction Another gr8 question. Breaking the glass around the plasma bulb will cause the plasma to not appear anymore. The vacuum or gas inside the plasma bulb is what allows the plasma to arc into the bulb. Regular air (~80% nitrogen, ~20% oxygen) has to much resistance for the plasma to arc.

Hi Caka, Don't think this type of use will mess up the plasma ball, never hurt mine. However, DOGS and Lil kiddo's WILL mess up the ball if they knock it around and bump it too much! :))
