The Wounded Healer

In Greek myths, Chiron was the wisest of the Centaurs and the archetype of the Wounded Healer

He was accidentally wounded by an arrow that had been dipped in the blood of the Hydra

In his search for his own cure, he discovered how to heal others

In teaching others the healing arts, he found a measure of solace from his own pain

The Wounded Healer understands what the patient feels because he has gone through the same pain

The suffering patient can be cared for by the Healer and be instrumental in the Healers own healing

Each encounter between Healer and patient can be transforming for both

The lesson of Chiron teaches us is that we can overcome pain and transcend into knowledge

That each of us can become a Wounded Healer

As an empath & healer since the early 80's NEVER have I heard an explanation for a process *I* find so difficult to explain expressed with such magnificently beautiful simplicity! And btw, for those interested, all was stated *perfectly*. The patient really *does* "heal the Healer." In fact (never thought about the process in quite this way before), it's the same as the act of "giving / teaching." I.e., the one doing the giving reallhy DOES take away more than s/he dloing the receiving!

As this video very correctly conveys the message of healing through connecting to those in pain, Jesus did not sit and wait to be revered; he walked the world and taught To Love, because he knew that the one who open the heart to everyone and everything, connects with The Creator and heals not only him/herself but everyone and evrythingelse in his/her enviroment.
