Small "plaque" made on a Haas CNC (computer numerical control) milling machine

Some of my students made a few dozen of these. They handed them out to people visiting the machine shop during a Sno-Isle Skills Center open house.

Sno-Isle is a technical high school for 11th and 12th graders from more than 40 high schools. Students spend a half-day at their local high schools and a half-day with us.

The machine making the model Space Needle is a Haas CNC Mill, model VFE.

Thanks for watching, and for your question. Actually, coolants come in a variety of colors besides green. There's even pink coolant (Cimcool is pink). The coolant used here is fairly fresh, and the color is correct for this brand. :-)

  • Shouldn't your coolant be a light green color?

Thanks for watching. The liquid is called "coolant." It is mixed with 1 part water-soluble oil concentrate and 30 parts water. Of course, coolant cools the metal and tool as they heat up while cutting. It also lubricates the tool, reducing friction while cutting.

  • whats that white liquid?
