Most people making the comments know all about the film noir style of the 40s/50s thats like film 101 but this short is clearly in the style of more modern highly stylized noir. Kudos to them for completing this short and utilizing some dramatic lighting instead of just flat lighting and justifying it as noir just because its black and white like ALOT of student noir shorts. However, this rips off too much dialogue from Sin City and its nothing we haven't already seen in a student short.

Does no one watch any old school movies anymore? I wasn't reminded of Rorschach till I read the comments. But this style has been around long before Watchmen hit the screen! This film is more likely a homage to all the old 1940/50 detective films, particularly those of the "hard boiled" school -- hence the name Hard Boiled Ramen, and why it has a first person narration, and why the main character solves the mystery with his fists (and a gun). :)

Epic product placement.
I always knew Henley was a badass.
Hi Jas
Did this movie win just because it had an easily discernible style?
This "movie" was littered with lines stolen from Sin City. There's homage, and then there's plagiarism. This isn't a spoof of Sin City, so why is it ok to have a character who is blatantly ripped off from Rorschach who steals lines from Sin City?
What's being rewarded here? Being unoriginal? Good job, you can parody a style, maybe you can get a gig as a writer for the next Epic Movie. What a bunch of bullshit.
