Hugo Campos is a passionate advocate for the rights of patients to access their data and become empowered participants in their own health care. His $30,000 implantable cardiac defibrillator continually collects information about his body, yet he has no access to this valuable data. He is on a mission to change that.

This is a victory for all patients. I'm so glad to have met you at Medicine 2.0 and to continue to work with you for Stanford's Medicine X. You're a passionate advocate and amazing individual.

Same thing goes for hearing aid data. Frustrating.

Yeah that's great until your doctor brushes aside your claims that something might be wrong. It only takes a bit of research to associate data with possible causes and then use the scientific method to narrow them down. Sometimes doctors make mistakes or come to wrong conclusions. These situations can be life threatening.

Because you're not a doctor, you morons. Go find a good cause to "fight for".

He speaks my words. As an HCM patient with an implantable ICD and bedside monitor I cringe and wonder when the modem calls the manufacturer and transmits my recent heart activity data.

This is a fantastic illustration of the journey towards the empowered patient. One day it also will be possible to say: It´s my data!
