Hugo Campos is a passionate advocate for the rights of patients to access their data and become empowered participants in their own health care. His $30,000 implantable cardiac defibrillator continually collects information about his body, yet he has no access to this valuable data. He is on a mission to change that.

  • He speaks my words. As an HCM patient with an implantable ICD and bedside monitor I cringe and wonder when the modem calls the manufacturer and transmits my recent heart activity data.

  • This is a fantastic illustration of the journey towards the empowered patient. One day it also will be possible to say: It´s my data!

  • This is a victory for all patients. I'm so glad to have met you at Medicine 2.0 and to continue to work with you for Stanford's Medicine X. You're a passionate advocate and amazing individual.
