The poor reviews are due to the fact that these magazines get revenue from equipment manufacturers. These types of stoves work, I cooked ramen noodles in my office yesterday. Now I am not a smart person, but I made one of these out of scrap cans. Scrap cans= free which means revenue loss for equipment manufacturers. Now loss of revenue to the equipment dealers, means loss of advertising revenue to the magazine. This means that the reviewer at the magazine looses his job. That is why poor review.

I recognize you as a a historical innovator in the world of alcohol stoves. However, your pompous, condescending attitude will keep me from purchasing anything from you.

Didn't look like it had any problems.

awsome job way to tell those yahoos that don't know what they're doing keep up the good work
P.S. do you sell these or can you post a vid on how to make them?

Only suckers use magazine or related company reviews to buy products. DUH! Show me one that is not trying to please the advertisers that pay them or "give" them expensive items to review. I'll use an alcohol stove any day. Keep up the good work Minibulldesign.

further proof that not everyone should be allowed to run an alcohol stove. Should we send in the stove police??

@scottyghouse you have to buy them from tinnys store, he no longer makes this stove, but you can buy a sketti2.
if you want to make it i would try to find someone else who has one and as them in a PM
Elitism is more prevalent in backpacking then almost any other recreational activity. It would be more helpful to explain what may have caused the adverse operations and how best to avoid them. Looks like a good stove, to an expert user. If it's such a complicated process, please elaborate through the videos. I'm very interested in using an alcohol stove as ultralight option. Any suggestions for reliable sources to learn from? Or, unreliable ones to avoid?

@sipher82 First a true alcohol stove expert would know better than to post a review that was made with the wrong fuel. Ethanol is a poor choice because it is much more volatile than methanol in a pure form. Second I did not see them explaining why the stove flared up so I am going to say my review did at least as well as theirs. This review was not even done in the USA it was done in Australia where methanol is very hard to find. Most people use a low grade fuel called Methylated spirits.

BPL did just fine on the review, they know stoves and other equipment.

You are misinformed--the gent at BPL who did this review had never SEEN an alcohol stove before. This was his FIRST!!!! And it shows. BPL doesn't know jack, some of the time.

Your fuel consumption is directly related to your cooking technique --If you have an inefficient way you cook then you will use a lot of fuel.---Methanol
