  • is it worth the money buying a sward lifter or would any sub soiler do the job ?

  • @fast1rac I wouldn't recommend a subsoiler as you don't want to disturb the subsoil in grassland. The Sward Lifter we have boosted our yield by nearly 30% in last years hay crop so I'd say it's value for money. We looked at several types before buying the Opico version and found that the ones with a flat roll were not so effective as they undid some of the good from the lifting when the roller pressed the ground back down whereas the Guttler rollers on this one are not so agressive.

  • @MillFarmAshorne Thanks for that, we have already done 1 field on the farm with a subsoiler and then went over it with ballast roller to have a try out. Its a lot of money for opico but im impressed with your increased yields, plus we have had a lot of problems with the cattle with fluke so thats why im very interested getting a machine to help stop problem
