this paul was successful because of not only his offense was good but his defence was good and used counters very effective.

he/she is saying leo played better because it requires more effort and mixups to play with leo than with paul. Paul is a basic character who gets great punishes and simple but effective mixups. Pauls don't need many tools to win. Some people like characters like that and see think that winning is just winning. Others consider more technical characters to better. In truth you have to play "Better" with a more technical character to win. Paul doesn't have to play as technical to win.

Paul's actually fun to play as, in my opinion. It's so satisfying to try to beat people with moves they've seen before. Sort of gets me learning the fundamentals of Tekken again. It's just a shame he's boring to watch.
Paul is the opposite of Roger, who in my opinion is fun to watch but boring to play.
