This is the song they successfully bumped up the charts by bashing Toby Keith. It is also the song that fell off the charts in a week after Maines' London comment. Few know that Maines' subsequent apology to GW wasn't carried by ANY European media. That her first stateside interview where she said they would never use the stage for their political beliefs and "that's not what I was doing that night" was never reported in Europe. Hence, a pandering joke made them big bucks in Europe.

People Vote for Ron Paul, he is the only candidate who doesn't support needless war. Show your support to the troops by not sending them off to die...

This song is the one the DC's re-released when they had stalled at #14 and Toby Keith was #1 on the charts. While no one asked her, Maines decided to create controversy by bashing his song. Their disingenuous nature reared its ugly head when they immediately re-released this song to profit from the controversy. It went to #1 on the heat, and is the same song that fell off the charts in a week after her London comment. You'd think she would have learned that bashing didn't always pay, but Noooo!

"The entire country may disagree with me, but I dont understand the necessity for patriotism. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why?"
per Natalie Maines.Three months later, at the Grammys, Joan Baez used these very words to introduce and defend Natalie. Seems she forgot to correct Joan Baez about "this land is your land" on Grammy night. Oh, that's right, they were getting awards. No need to spoil THAT venue with her beliefs. Maines is Disingenuous to the core
i cry every time i hear this, wishing that everything goes ok over where there!
