fasting leads to increase in adrenaline levels which don't allow you to sleep. your body is using it's own hormones/tissues to provide energy needed from glucose. fruits and salt will downregulate adrenaline. i would kindly suggest eating lots of fruit juices to balance your blood sugar and even some protein from eggs/dairy to give you the vitamins you might need to combat depressive states of mind. you need to be satiated and eat the right types of food to avoid the physiological stress.

:D Awww I loved this. I had a big smile on when you took a drink of the OJ!
OMF people how can you support this madness? This individual has sick body distortion problems and risks damage, which has occurred, to all major organs of the body; and yet you have encouraged him through 21 days of torture which cognitive dissonance will not allow him to believe were in vain. Peer-reviewed science and the human body have been trampled on here.

@phantomcreamer I assume you are commenting because you are a caring person. Thank you. Know that it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I've fasted 2 times since (26 days and another 21 days). There is an immense lasting clarity that arrises during the fast. I'd like to know why you relate cognitive dissonance to fasting. I think human experience and science do not negate the immense benefit of fasting. I've answered 1000's of emails, no negatives yet! Thank you.

@yogayak Of course I do. Fasting is a choice and somewhat extreme case of the effort justification paradigm of cognitive dissonance. Strain is high and the goal is exaggerated. Human experience is a loosely defined phrase, but as far as experience goes fasting usually decreases energy and often leads to crankiness. Furthermore it is denying your body and mind of the basic building blocks and energy such as glucose that is essential to brain function, not leading to any clarity.

@phantomcreamer There are indeed extreme fasts "fasters". But 24h fasts or even 10 fasts are far from extreme and proven to be extremely beneficial. The clarity is one of the leading reasons people around the world fast more than once (in my opinion). Crankiness goes away after the first 2-3 days. The body does indeed have all that it needs to fast for extended periods. It's an amazing fact, but people safely fast (under supervision) for 90 days. There are many writings on this. Thank you
