"The Journey Into A Man's Open Heart"

Documentary filmmaker Ben Mittleman turns the camera on himself when confronted with the same open-heart surgery that derailed his father's life. A quest for truth, Dying to Live, gives public exposure to his own fears about mortality. In the same year Mittleman's wife Valerie and mother Anne both struggle with their own life threatening illnesses. It's these affairs of his heart that contain the soul of Dying to Live. A love letter to Valerie, Dying to Live reveals the raw realities of Mittleman's fight to survive and heal the women who love him. With a rare humor and spirit, an ordinary man struggles deeper into adulthood.

This film will premiere March 13, 2008 at the Music Hall 3 theater in Beverly Hills.

  • Its about time somebody did a film about what a person actually goes through physically AND emotionally during health crisis. I remember after my surgery a guy overheard me talking about my operation. He turned and said "do you cry alot now?" I was stunned..somebody KNEW! After five weeks in Cedars CICU at age 46...I can relate! Best of luck to you Ben, I hope your film does well.

  • I've undergone this surreal procedure 2X, caused via a congential anomoly. I'm on the verge of my 3rd Open Heart Surgery at 39Yrs.

May God protect os all, but I'm NOT afraid due to my superhero named Brenden Foster in Seattle.

If you don't know about him type in his name here on youtube.
