On Sunday, December 14, 2008, Tacoma Art Museum hosted Snowbound, a free community festival. Tacoma artists Marc Dombrosky and Shannon Eakins created a snowdrift with thousands of snowflakes made from recycled office paper. Throughout the day, the drift was blown about with electric-powered blowers, creating an interior blizzard. The artists also wrapped the stones in the interior courtyard with secondhand sweaters. The sweater installation was on view through January 4, 2009, then each of the garments was laundered and donated back to the community. The event also offered snowflake making workshops, knitting circles, and winter sing-alongs. Present were the Rainier Ringers, a local handbell choir; and local knitting group the "Feisty Knitters."
