This is part of my "Mixing with Protools" Series

In this video I talk about:

1) Proper gain staging for tracking vocals
2) Compressing, EQ'ing, and De-essing Vocals (API 2500, SSL EQ, Waves De-esser)
3) Controlling Vocal Dynamics
4) Learning what frequencies relate to vocals
5) Parametric VS. Graphical EQ (Which to use for beginners?)

  • haha i landed on one i saw forever ago, ever since I never tracked my vocals or guitars too hot

  • I really do enjoy the way you describe pro tools you make it simple to understand. Thanks

  • so...when setting your compressor, it looks like you changed the threshold to 0db....does this mean that i need to record at a specific level or have my audio peaking at a certain level for that ratio to work?

  • gr8 tips, thanks

  • Hey man you sound really good. You should make more songs :)

  • @Airtime456 u have to push ur input switch it says "mic/di" on the digi003 and make sure phantom power is on if u need it.

  • good video. Thanks

  • quick question how do you import vocals onto pro tools from your mic??? im playing with all these in/outs in still not seeing a recording line on pro tools.

  • hey pro tools is not letting me bounce the song its saying that the file size is too large for the file type to support. Can this be caused by to many plugins?
