I think its interesting to point out that the symbols, the ancient ones are facing to the left, and apparently the Nazis, literally reversed the symbol (once adopted) in the opposite direction.
I would thinkj this is akin to taking a pentacle and reversing it for "evil" purposes.

Sort of...Hitler didn't think he was doing anything evil. He adopted the swastika (in it's reversed and tilted form) because it was already adopted by the Thule Society which sponsored the German Workers Party which became the Nazi party. The Thule Society claimed the swastika spawned from the original Aryan nation, many millennium ago.
