These commercials aired on local ABC affiliate KGO on October 29th, 1989. Most of these were posted way back in Vol. 11 but here they are in their original order and better quality!

1. Prodigy (My dad was pretty hip with computers but we didn't get the internet until '95...and it was AOL)
2. Channel 7 News Bumper
3. Triple-Action All
4. Orville Redenbacher's Light Popcorn
5. The McRib at McDonald's (Made from the meat of an elusive, magical beast that only appears in the fall every few years. Choamp!)
6. "Free Spirit" Commercial Bumpers
7. Nabsico Shredded Wheat (Imagine the horror of living in a world where the gravity of Milk was reversed)
8. Wendy's (With Dave Thomas!)
9. Promo for "Who's The Boss" and "The Wonder Years"
10. "Free Spirit" Commercial Bumpers
11. Wrigley's (I petition for this jingle to become the National Anthem in the event of a zombie apocalypse or other large-scale disaster. Who's with me?)
12. Subaru Legacy
13. Anti Drug PSA
14. Promo for "The Real Ghostbusters Halloween Special"
15. "Free Spirit" Commercial Bumper
16. Promo for "Doogie Howser M.D." and "Anything But Love"

23. "The Real Ghostbusters Halloween Special" Commercial Bumpers
24. Toys R Us (I want that inflatable Tyrannosaurus Rex)
25. Downy
26. Downy/Ivory Night Before Christmas Sweepstakes
27. Bambi on VHS (I found this movie boring until I was an adult and could appreciate the circle of life thing)
28. Matchbox Superfast (I'm still torn on the whole slicks/nobbies debate)
29. Promo for "Full House" and "Family Matters"
30. "The Real Ghostbusters Halloween Special" Commercial Bumpers
31. Little Lost And Founds (Emo stuffed animals cry because nobody understands their music)

  • "Free Spirit" was a short-lived sitcom. It featured a young, pretty and somewhat quirky blonde who also happened to be a witch. She somehow became the nanny to the kids of an uptight widower/divorcee (can't remember which). When she used her whichcraft, hijinks ensued & there was also the flirty undercurrent between her & the dad. Love this post & all the others, keep 'em coming!

  • @McSurly I've actually posted two episodes of the show on my channel.

  • CompuServe = defunct. Prodigy = defunct. AOL = defunct...... Oh wait..... ;-)

  • @m3trooper Prodigy is now a subsidiary of AT&T and is still the leading ISP in Mexico.

  • I got hip to Prodigy in 1993, 2 months before they dropped the totally "unlimited" access. You were charged an hourly fee to use their BBs (forums) after that. BOO! But their web browser was the first I used!

Right on with the Wrigley's jingle. Way to cash in in the event of tragedy! (see: 9/11)

  • The other day I was in Walmart and seen a 5 dollar DVD of 200 "classic" commercials I believe it was. I told my friend "Why would I want that when we can watch commercialvault dude on Youtube?" Thanks for these uploads.

  • @80sCommercialVault Wonderful! I'll have to check those out & refresh my fuzzy recollections.

  • those Luv's & Toys R Us ads are so sweet.

    stuffed animals that cry, really?

so many fond memories of TGIF...

    I love the new Wendy'snburgers

McDonald's has to put "pork" on the McRib containrs so people will know what they're eating

    what was "Free Spirit?"

that Wrigley's jingle is so beyond epic. I had no idea gum was so patriotic.

  • I'm with you on the Wrigley's thing

  • Little Lost and Founds. Sell your toys through GUILT!!! XD

  • Those Bounty ads are really good.

Anything But Love is one of those shows which garnered acclaim at the time but seems to have been forgotten soon after it went off the air.

Were they playing a real video game in the Toys R Us ad?

    I miss Dave Thomas.

  • Watching these various sets of commercials always takes me back to a wonderful time when tv/entertainment were amazing. There was always something worth watching. I think it's safe to say that commercials were taken for granted back then as I'd rather watch these on youtube rather than turn on my hdtv now.
