The Hamilton Pool was built in 1935 when Hamilton Field was considered the finest military airfield in the U.S. By 2008 the Pool was weathered and leaking. By all accounts the City of Novato planned to close the Pool permanently. But starting on what was to be the Pool's final closing day, hundreds of people all across Novato signed a petition to save this beautiful community asset, and many more urged City Councilmembers and City Staff to find the way. Ultimately, the City decided to invest $4.5M on the Pool's renovation, transforming it into a state-of-the-art facility. The Pool reopened on May 29, 2010.
