@TruthJockey so how does this "light" help to make the world a better place?
-
@avedic Don't believe either of us. Do your own research.

@Tsadi9Mem9Khet9 Why should I believe you instead of Tim Freke?

As I have stated elsewhere, Jim Jones taught a socialist left hand path philosophy, and I've actually seen a People's Temple video recording in which he stated that he was God and his intent was to convince his adherents that they were also God. This did not prevent him from maintaining complete control even unto death, of his followers' lives.

Bystander: "Is it purely coincidental that by way of believing your teaching that we would be less likely to concern ourselves with our well-being and happiness on earth, thereby allowing the greedy, misanthropic, psychotic, genocidal, inbred garbage who are in positions of "power", one of whom I just so happened to see slipping you an envelope, to continue to hoard all things unto themselves?"

...just happens to include those who believe this bullsh...uh...truth come together, we can recreate the True God!" Innocent bystander: "How do you know that?" Gnostic teacher: "I just told you. We who believe are imbued with the divine essence." Bystander: "So you're saying that you and others who believe as you do are God, and the reason that you should be believed when you say this, and give your totally unprovable explanation is that you, claiming to be God, said it?"

No one ever seems to question the claims of the gnostics, and yet, they will mock the tautology of Christians, in spite of the fact that gnosticism is exactly as tautological in its verification of its claims- Gnostic teacher: "That's right, boys and girls. You and most other people are actually the product, along with the rest of the universe, though we'll leave that out (don't ask why) of the True God committing suicide! As a result, if all of us who contain the divine essence, which...

@avedic Well, due to the fact that the Creator God is and was literally believed in by Jews, Christians, and Muslims, it cannot be claimed that this nonsense of gnosticism was originally stated as allegory. They originally made these claims as though they were stating that there actually were anthropomorphic beings called Yaldabaoth, Primal Adam, "the great architect Mithra", etc.
@jksville Well, until you have EXPERIENCE...you'll merely be hedging bets! But one day, maybe, you'll see the value of experience. Living here in the bible belt, I'm amazed at you many claim to be "born again" - yet Fear & Desire, Hell & Heaven, play a crucial role in their mind-forged manacles. As a mystic, I know...as Carl Jung knew...as Meister Eckhart knew...as Pythagoras, Plotinus, Joe Campbell, & Nietzsche knew. Having seen the light...I beg you to look allegorically at Jesus' message!

f anybody thinks this guy is spouting BS, take a look at Joe Campbell's idea of the "monomyth" or Aldous Huxley's "Perennial Philosophy"...ask any mystic that's had The Experience! You can see allegorical parodies everywhere, from Pilgrim's Progress to Plato' Cave & the Divided Line...from Jacob's Ladder to Dante's Inferno. Then call it Satori in Zen...they call it Illumination in secret societies.
The essence of YOU and the essence of the UNIVERSE are the same
