looking deep I feel the soul was the virus that held us here in the first place. The sprite and the soul are not the same and the true sprite is trapped now. The killing the parents (figuratively) in Buddha means to not give birth to new suffering and to kill the parents of all suffering. This is basically allowing the soul to leave and retaining the sprite.
