I have question for you. I'm using 3" mirrors and it seems that motor speed has a lot to do with the shape thats produced in my case. At 12v an almost flat line is produced. If I power it down to about 6 volts i get a circle that's pretty small and if I change the laser angle all that happens is the location of the pattern on the wall changes. Any Idea how I could achieve a larger tunnel? Thanks.

sorry to ask more, but scared i will get in trouble at school with laser so want to be safe. will the 5mW burn if someone puts hand in front. and will anyone get burnt just by putting hand in vortex effect? that is just smoke and light reflection isnt it? you said something about burning through black tape, do you ever use strong ones? thank y ou for all this.

You will have no trouble a 5mw laser. It is very safe. It takes about 50mw to burn black tape and it takes several seconds with that small point of light on a single spot to do it. When you reflect the laser off of the spinning mirror, it changes the place where the laser lands. It may hit the same spot with every turn but only for a moment. The single point of light energy is strung out over the distance it travels and will not have near the power to burn anyone. Ask anything, glad to help :)

where you get those lasers?

The green laser pointer i use for the vortex you can find at Spencer's gifts or eBay. The ones that can burn through black tape are more expensive, just do a search for "WickedLasers" on google to find those.
