Skate 2 Developer Commentary - New Tricks

Skate 2 is expected to follow the same gameplay style as the first Skate game whereby the player controls their skateboarder's tricks by "flicking" the analog sticks on the controller in different ways. A new control mechanisms has been added in Skate 2 which will allow the player to control the skateboarder's feet and hands independenetly, allowing for the player to perform hand and footplants, hand-based lip tricks, skitching, and hippy jumps[2]. The player will also have the ability to step off the skateboard and walk about the city. The player can push and pull certain objects in the environment in order to create their own skateboarding obstacles[2]. The player will also be able to choose between the classic camera angle, and a new third-person angle[3]. Other notable new features include the ability to play as a female skater, double the number of tricks from the first game, improved graphics, increased ability to customise the characters skateboard and appearance. Skate 2 will feature a new online mode called "Regular vs. Goofy". [4] Gamers will lead a team of goofy foot or regular foot pros as they pit the best skateboarders against each other in the ultimate team competition. With the addition of on foot gameplay comes the ability to walk out of a bail, jump on and off your board while running, and throw your board.
