The Hotel Vertigo, named for its starring role in Alfred Hitchcocks film, Vertigo, is a striking San Francisco landmark hotel offering the finest in modern appeal. Formerly the York Hotel, this boutique Union Square hotel honored its legendary Hollywood connection with a celebrity facelift by lauded designer Thomas Schoos and a name change in December 2008.

Maintaining its classically beautiful star appeal, the newly refurbished and named Hotel Vertigo features luxury amenities that make a playful nod toward the Hitchcock film. White and orange 300-thread-count sheets bedeck plush beds with white leather headboards, while custom orange wingback chairs display the Vertigo name. Bathrooms feature creamy crocodile-patterned tile, dark walnut vanities and oversized rain showerheads. Modern amenities such as flat panel TVs, refrigerators and iPod docking stations bring this historic 1922 beauty into the 21st century without taking away from celebrated appeal.

With just 101 rooms, this intimate boutique hotel offers the attentive service one expects from a world-class hotel with the friendly rapport of a small, private establishment. The hotels 24-hour front desk is always available to help guests, and amenities such as Concierge service and valet parking take the stress out of travel. Located in lower west Nob Hill, Hotel Vertigo is just four blocks from Union Square and San Franciscos Theatre District, making the best of the city just steps from each well-appointed guest room. Hotel guests are also close to a range of restaurants and boutiques on Polk Street and the shops and cultural activities of Japantown. To make a stay at this San Francisco hotel even more mouthwatering, famed celebrity chef Tyler Florence will open his signature restaurant and bar at Hotel Vertigo in Spring of 2009.

  • Good old Sutter street. The "bar" at 2:05 is a nice place. I went there a couple of times last year when I stayed at Sir Francis Drake further down the street. Free and FAST wi-fi and 10 beers on tap. What else do you need!

    Hi Perry.

There are two missing items you would need (Mrs. Boo) and I to help you carrying all those heavy beers back to (OUR) table.

    Sounds like a nice place.

Hope you are having a great time.

Hi my good friend Paolo, yes I very much like to guide my human around the city on such nice days, but the area in this video is not nice, I did not see any rodents, we should have been a few blocks down into the tenderloin area, they got big rodents there.

    Yummy !

  • The -Vertigo Hotel- was called before The -New York Hotel- and before, in the times of the movie was shot, or for the movie , it was called The -Empire Hotel- ! So is a way to say HE ! not a Dog Black and White movie !

  • It was way cooler looking in 1957 with that great green neon sign hanging vertically from the building.

  • I also stayed here.

  • @perryinsanfrancisco The bar in the Vertigo was also an infamous speakeasy during Prohibition.
