iB4the1 is a series of sonic episodes that illustrate Fantom Island, a resort for inklings and inkings spawned by iLL-Literacy's collective creativity. Written, produced, and performed by the ensemble, each track depicts an artifact, a character, a philosophy, or an emotion that dwells in this illusionary habitat. Fantom Island is a land war-torn between fiction and reality; mind and soul; life and survival. As so, the music is an epic dialogue between the influences that have shaped these artists and their restless addictions to discover newness. Rooted in a plethora of inspirations including P-Funk, revival gospel, Disney songs, and the type of rap that backpackers scoff at, iB4the1 is an orchestral narration of a group of friends going sane in a world gone crazy.

Told in three chapters, iB4the1 will be released free for download throughout 2011. A beta version of iB4the1.1 was released with acclaim on November 17, 2009.
