The chords used for these songs is common and it's used a lot for pop music. No one stole from no one.
Joe Satriani was an attention seeking idiot for suing. So were the Creaky Boards. Again, this is a very common chord in popular music.

Coldplay Viva la Vida is much better than the Joe Satriani, but this is arguably better than both of them.

when someone copies music you look at the chords they play, not if one song is the same instrument, sounds better, etc. From 3:38 the chords are the EXACT same as vida la vida. Also look at Joe Satriani's If I could Fly. He plays the EXACT same chords that coldplay used in vida la vida. On the flip-side though many musicians borrow from one another...
