Could the stoat be doing a "weasel dance" in order to try and lure or confuse prey that it sees? Mustelids are fairly well known for this -- it may not be play at all, but hunting. Did he eventually catch anything, or were other animals visible during the "dance"?

Someone else has mentioned this, but there were no other animals spotted in the area. I suppose there must be a good reason for it, but I prefer to think that it was just happy!
