Try this alternative, its safer for your hair and more effective: Boil a pot of water( this is good because the water becomes distilled and removes any hard water minerals from the tap or you could just use bottled water) place a hand towel in the boiled water for about 2 mins( be CAREFUL of the hot water) once you have your chosen condition in your hair, take the handtowel out of the water, ring it out well and place on top of your hair then cover with a plastic cap.
