We had a crazy afternoon full of Tornadoes today. Its a really sickening feeling watching a tornado head straight for your house. I cant explain the feeling. Tornados used to be kind of exciting when I was younger but Ive since realized that Im not immortal. None of us are immortal. The crappy reality is that were all just sitting ducks waiting for the next F5 tornado to totally wipe us off the earth. Luckily there were no major injuries reported all evening. Angela and I are also lucky the tornado passed just north of our neighborhood. I posted some video below of the tornado that ripped through a neighborhood (Oak Tree) 2 miles north of our house. I suppose Im still a little shook up if you cant tell from my rambling.

  • No, the colors on the radar are the intensity returns from the Doppler. The greens = light rain, yellow & red = moderate rain, & the pink, black & white = heavy rain + Hail. The White usually means very large hail 2.5in+ The "Hook Echo" is usually a sign where the tornado might be. When you see this form it means a tornado is forming or is on the ground.

  • green and blue seem like obvious colder zones, a storm of course is warmer on the inside hence the yellow and red zones, black is that like the thunder?

  • indeed I'm not even from America, where I live we don't have any tornado's we do have heavy thunder storms but that is about once every 6 months. What do the colors mean btw? I'd figure a tornado would appear in black/white cause that looks like a hazard area, but the guy points to some yellow red one, is it like cold and warm? Like where cold meets warm and then makes a curve that's where you'll have a tornado ? D: just being curious

  • I take it you are not from Oklahoma. This is something we see every spring on TV. The 3 big TV stations (Ch 4,5, & 9) will go wall to wall coverage if a tornado is within 50 miles of OKC. Its a mix between radar & live shots from on the ground & in the air. This tornado was odd for it to happen in Feb. but was a lightweight compared to the one that hit Lone Grove at night.

  • I've never seen a warning for a tornado on television, specially not a weather news like that it looks so darned confusing o.o

  • good video

  • wow that's an awful tornado, i hope it didnt hurt anyone
