Suggestions reach the subconscious via bypassing the critical, "conscious" factor. This can be done a number of ways. In conversational hypnosis it's done by structuring your words so that what you want to be accepted goes in unquestioned.
during regular hypnosis, the critical factor is "put to sleep" so the suggestions go directly in.
there are also plenty of other tricky ways that are used in advertising, for example.
