The guy who works here has been a great help to me with Mod Rewrite: http://datakoncepts.com/seo

We are going to make a Page Handler to route every page request to an index.php file. I'll show you some basics and how to grab the URL inside PHP as well. This is fun, but be careful it's easy to mess stuff up!

  • 4:40 whatever, its so embarrassing lol, do not be embarrassed just be yourself, teach whatever you know, and if you don't, its okay not a big deal, :) Thanks for the nice tutorial

  • @yusf22 thanks :)

  • Please don't feel embarrest for anything that you are trying to explain. for example when you had -l and you said that if you explained it , it would be embarrassing. That is not true. i had no clue what it was. Please explain everything thoroughly Thank you for the video and i hope you can create another one with more detail.

  • @sarmenhb Why thank you :) haha

  • I wouldn't take my advice too far on this, I am not an expert by all means! It's pretty hard stuff! And use ^(.+)$ rather than ^(.*)$

  • its a good starting point .. looks like there is no beginner intro to mod_rewrite anywhere. Where do people start learning it? Thanks for the video.

  • nice onee .........

  • You should definitly explicitly mention in the info of your mvc tut series part 1 "If you dont understand what im doing with the .htaccess file check out my tutorials on it here: [link], I found these just by luck ,but about a hour ago I gave up in the first 5 mins of the mvc tut bc i had no clue how u expected me to know what was going on in that file .

  • Remember, it's more efficient on stat calls to move your tested mod re-writes to the central config and do away with loading .htaccess (applicable to dedicated/VPS servers).

If it doesn't work, that's because Apache directives sometimes need modifying when used in central config. Burn some of your life up finding out how to fix. Or stick with .htaccess and don't give a toss. Depends how relevant optimisation is to you.

  • Keep doing these tutorials

They soften hard things -- so to speak.

    Thank you.

  • this really helped me, thanks a lot!

  • Hi nice tutorial as always. But I have a question : Is putting a condition: " don't interfere if folder exist" good ? I am making ma own mvc and was thinking do we want somebody to sniff in our folders ? thx for the great stuff :)

  • Hey Jesse. Nice video. I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to rename large ugly PHP urls to search engine friendly URLS. Thanks.
