Under Soviet rule, young people in Central and Eastern Europe were drilled into the ideology of communism - indoctrinated with its sense of purpose, of structure, of belonging. The collapse of communist authoritarian rule has brought greater freedom of choice and opportunity for all. But it's also created a climate of growing uncertainty, especially for the 65 million young people in the region. As the gulf between the "have's" and the "have not's" has widened, the former safe and well-trodden road from childhood to adulthood has increasingly been swept away. Stripped of their sense of "belonging", many young people in Eastern Europe have become "outsiders", as this Life programme shows.

@rockofGreatBritain it didnt hit most of europe it was the eastern half that suffered the extreme temp. because of its location close to Russia

people couldnt get out to get supplies roads were blocked by snow snow. cars were stuck and buried in snow and drivers died overnight stuck in cars until help arrived

have you seen the villages buried with snow up to their roofs?? all you british poofs have to complain about is a bit of rainy weather so shut the fuck up

@ntdejene18 There is no clear 'Polish people', actually any people. We are all very mixed. Europe has been a melting pot for centuries. Also, Celtic and Germanic peoples ARE Indo-Europeans. The only non-Indoeuropeans in Europe are: the Basque, the Finnish, the Estonians, the Hungarians and the Maltans. Teutonic peoples are actually strongly related to Slovonic peoples, this is reflected by common characteristics: blond hair and bright eyes, but you have to take into account that it's more complx
