In '41 color film was rare. Portable cameras were rare. On Nov 15 1941 in an off the record press conference Gen Marshall said that we expect to be attacked by Japan in the first 10 days of Dec. The shot was filmed from the deck of the hospital ship Solace. Solace would be a non-target during any attack. The Arizona blew up 12 minutes into the attack.
What do you suppose the odds are that a portable camera loaded with color film happened to be on the Solace that day? These guys were bait
