John Wayne, the biggest coward whoever walked the earth, a man who used every trick in the book to avoid being drafted into the army during the 2nd world war but won every celluloid war he ever fought in, a tough talking phoney, how many punch-ups have you ever read about him getting into, he even backed down in front of Humphrey Bogart, get a real hero , Clark gable, David Niven, James Stewart, men who really fought in the war, the real war.
Does anyone know what's the music playing at the end of the tribute, in the last 20 seconds? At those few sentences I cried, really did. Amazing tribute to an amazing life
I don't know as much my family as you do, but my ancestor, Richard Churchwell, went to KY during the time of Daniel Boone. At one time, Churchill and Churchwell were interchangeable names because people back in the 1600s would often spell their names differently at different times in their lives. Have you read Samuel Pepys Diary? He spells names several different ways in that, including Halley of "comet" fame, including HAWLEY, so I think the name of the comet is mis-spelled!!!!!!
Yes. Isure am. So very German. Mine you'll enjoy this. Came to New York in 1623. Two brothers. Hienrich. Which changed to Hendrix. I agree completely, and I have a print of the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, a picture of Robert E. Lee, a picture of Stonewall Jackson, and a copy of the Confederate Seal in my library. I've already started passing onto my grandson an appreciation of his Southern heritage.
Wonderful family history. On my fathers side.. My paternal grandfather Hendrix joined the 1st South Carolina volunteers. My maternal grandfather Kiesler was in the 20th South Carolina volunteers. C.S. and his father Henry joined him. One moved to Arkansas in1882. and in 1884 the other followed. They tried to hold on in Carolina .But the war and Shermans march. Well you know.Theirs grand kids are my Grandparents. I am so very proud of our Southern lives...
@wthjrtx1 I'm inept at this "newfangled" technology, so the posting I THOUGHT went to you didn't!!!! My family owns a farm 3 miles north of Shiloh Battlefield that goes from the highway down to the Tennessee River that's been owned since that area was settled, and my grandmother remembered sitting on her grandfather's knee while he and his old buddies talked about the "Battle of Bull Run Creek." He fought for the CSA, of course!!!!!
I mean only to flatter you and show you the highest respect. I am a Southerner through and through. You sound like one of wonderful ladies and mam , My hats off to you..
I am a cousin to William Travis and Mark Twain..God Bless from TEXAS..Very nice to meet you!!
