I mentioned full control of the constitution which happened when Canada repatriated the BNA Act from Britain in 1982. Until that time any changes to the Canadian constitution required British Parliament approval

Canadian Independence was established with the Statute of Westminister in 1931 and full control of the constitution came in 1982.

@newc9999 What do you mean by full independence?

Happy Canada independence Day. I'm now curious as to when Canada got it's independence from Britain? and how that came about?

@muttgooch very good question. Actually it was July 1 1867 when Canada was first acknowledged under British North America Act as an Independent Territory of England; so from then it took some few names - Dominion Day, Confederation day, and now it is simply "Canada Day" eventhough some Canadian call it freedom day too. And the most important of all is that it is a free nation.
