SHOSTAKOVICH 14th SYMPHONY - Malagueña (Lorca) part-2

The theme of the symphony is Death, and its various parts (more precisely, 10 of the 11 parts) explore the diverse aspects of death:
Death
stole into and left
the tavern.
Death
entered and left
the tavern.
Black horses
and sinister people
pass through
the shasms of the guitar.
A smell of salt
and warm blood
makes the nerves
tingle.
And Death
comes and goes,
comes and goes.
It leaves and returns,
Death leaves
and will not depart
from the tavern.
Το ποίημα αυτό του Λόρκα το έχει μελοποιήσει θαυμάσια και ο Χρήστος Λεοντής ("Ο Χάρος μπαινοβγαίνει στην ταβέρνα"). Η διαφορά των δύο έργων είναι τεράστια. Πολύ λογικό. Άλλο έντεχνη λαϊκή μουσική και άλλο συμφωνική.
