I first visited the cemetery in 1973 while serving in the US Army in Germany. My wife and I visited it again in early June 2011. It is truly a beautiful place and worth a visit. While in Germany I was stationed in Käfertal which was where Patton had his car accident. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Luxembourg you will not regret a visit to this hallowed ground.

I visited the grave site of General George S. Patton in Luxembourg in November of 2008. The American cemetery there is very impressive. It was apparent to me that the General was beloved by the people of Luxembourg as well as by the Americans.

My grandfather, who was killed during the battle of the bulge, is buried in plot "F" of this cemetery. I hope to take my wife and kids to visit there some day. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for posting this video! It's too bad that Patton was not buried in the USA because I wanted to visit his grave. Hr is my hero!
when General George S. Patton died his wife and widow Beatrice Ayers Patton honored his wishes that he be buried at the head of his beloved 3rd Army with the thousands of soldiers that he lead into combat against the german nazis. the policy at the time was that fallen American soldiers would not be buried on enemy territory but on newly liberated territory. hence, the American cemetary in Luxembourg is where a majority of American soldiers fell in battle for freedom and liberty for others.

I was here in 1983 when i was about 19 or 20 years old with the reg army infantry, they took us on a tour. what is most impressive is the names that are carved into the welcome center. The vietnam memorial cannot even compare to what the Luxenburg people did for these poor american boys that lost their lives between December 1944 to February 1945.
