One of the many ways I use our Mac media center that I built - here is Keagan at 6 weeks old enjoying some artwork I created for him in the form of a screensaver set to music. The combination of shapes, color, and classical music help to stimulate his brain and visual recognition. He is just beginning to find visual stimuli very interesting.

I created the artwork of basic shapes in black, white, and red using iWork Pages. I used the shape tool and made high-contrast patterns on twenty four 8x11 pages. I then exported the document as a PDF, printed it to iPhoto then set the screensaver prefs to play a repeating slideshow from a folder containing the JPGs exported from iPhoto.

A playlist comprised of sample selections of music courtesy of babytraxaudio.com provides the slideshow soundtrack.

Keagan really enjoys this and it helps to calm him when he is fussy. Next I'm going to make the artwork available in a slideshow since you can't see it too well in the video here.
