However, if recent history is any indication baseball is very unpredictable. A dominating team in one year can be a total dud the next (see: Mariners, Marlins, Tigers). This should be an exciting AL East race.
they'll take the East is beyond optimisic, I'll remain real and say that they have a good chance at the wild card. The Yankees are good on paper but they have some clouds hovering over A-Roid. AJ is not in a contract year and has no reason to try. And the rest of the team is good individually, but they haven't been tested as a team and last season proved that the best payroll in the league doesn't mean a play off appearance. The Sox and the Rays are the only real threat for the Jays in the East.
The Jays are secon in the leage dating back to last year since Cito took over. Their hitting is healthy (Wells, Hill, Rolen, even though Wells is basically a free out right now). Halladay is solid. They essentially right now have a solid 10 starters which provides motivation for Tallet, Cecil, Ray and Richmond to pitch well to keep their spot in the rotation. Yes the Jays will slow down as season progresses but 40 games in and having a 4.5 game lead over the Sox is commendable. While saying that
where are the rays this year?? Everyone thought they'd be hot but theyre not. Its to bad theyre a fun team to watch
