Mose Allison & my trip to NYC

Mose Allison played 4 nights at the Jazz Standard in NYC November 2007. Just prior to that he was in the Netherlands! Wow! I hope I'm still going like he is when I'm his age. I also wandered around NYC. I got lost few times, the street where I parked disappeared, I watched a cab driver bump his way to squeeze between two other cars parked on the street and wished I had filmed it. I went to the top of the empire state building and watched the girl next to me drop her camera. I borrowed a clip of a Mose Allison performance from almost twenty years ago, courtesy of ITSARTOLIE, who's channel contains the greatest video library of jazz I've ever seen. Check it out.
*UPDATE* many of you jazz lovers of the YouTube community have been wondering what happened to ITSARTOLIE and his wonderful library of great jazz performances. It seems the Chet Baker Foundation in Canada is responsible. I'm sure Chet Baker himself would praise ITSARTOLIE for compiling the world's greatest jazz performances for all of the world to view. I find it difficult to fathom how the folks at the Chet Baker Foundation could be so stingy, but I suppose it is their prerogative. Too bad.

Actually if you google around you'll find that people who merely claim to be the C B Foundation sacked all the vids off youtube. Paul Baker has said that there was never an order to sack the videos off utube in the first place...

it would be hypocritical to do so since they stand for promoting jazz to other people.

you should be able to send messages if you go to the YouTube channel...I have no idea why itsartolie's account has been suspended, I'm very disappointed, I watch videos on his channel regularly...I think it would be a great loss to the community

It's their prerogative alright. However,their actions place them in the YouTube Hall of Shame. They'd be wise to take a page from Cory Doctorow's essay "Giving it Away" and to take his advice that "Being well-enough known to be pirated is a crowning achievement. I'd rather stake my future on a literature that people care about enough to steal than devote my life to a form that has no home in the dominant medium of the century." Wise up, folks. It's later than you think.
