This video was made to highlight the negative experiences of the students attending ARU to strenghthen my case against ARU. If this sounds like something you want to get behind then post me a reply!

Article written in the Cambridge News March.10th monday

ANGRY students have blasted Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) claiming a string of blunders were made on a prestigious postgraduate course.

Naomi Sugai, who represents students on the £4,725-per-year MA in Management, says classes have been cancelled without warning, and students have been given a limited choice of the advertised modules.

She slammed the university as "slow and inefficient" - and described its own management system as "ludicrous". She is now threatening to report ARU to an independent adjudicator.

The 24-year-old said: "They are supposed to be teaching us about smooth management, but they can't even do it themselves. It's hard to take what they say seriously."

The eight students who started the course only found out one lecture had been cancelled when they turned up at the venue on their timetable to find it deserted.

Miss Sugai, said: "It makes us angry to think lecturers can pull out at the last minute with no reason and not get reprimanded. It is unprofessional to say the least."

She claims different modules cover the same material, meaning students do not get "value for money".

She also said there was a limited choice in what options to take - despite the university website's assurance of "a comprehensive range of option modules".

Now Miss Sugai is threatening to report the university to the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education.

ARU is bottom of the Sunday Times University Guide.

An ARU spokeswoman said meetings to discuss the issues had taken place, and current and former students had indicated they were "happy" with the course. Extra options have since been added.

She said: "Our alumni state that the course content of our MA programmes provides the necessary skills and knowledge required by global organisations.

"We do get students raising matters of student choice on low-recruiting programmes.

"This, in practice, is an issue and we try and resolve it in the way we have made our recommendations to this group of students. This year, we have put extra time and resource into improving the timetabling aspect of our operations."

  • I am finding a way around the problem. I have in effect FORCED them to run the options that THEY said were available in the prospectus. If something is advertised as being available, you have to make it available, otherwise it is FALSE ADVERTISING. I also have devised other ways to get around the problem, although I shouldn't have to.

  • All you negative people you know nothing about ARU. Im studying there as well & this woman is 100% right for bringing this issue to light & hopefully this complaint will end up in the hands of the relevant authorities to sort this matter out because people seen to be so scared to raise their heads & speak out. Come on people give the girl some credit. Nuff props gal, we need people like you in the society. Big up to Martin Luther King for starting the revolutionary we still live up to today.

  • What course are you doing if you don't mind me asking and what issues do you have on your course?

  • I find it appalling that instead of dealing with the issues and answering with a response video (to check how open and easy it is I responded with a recent one of my own which contains philosophising very relevant to this situation) they have (according to today's telegraph) decided to kick you out and bully you with their shysters. Is this any way to treat a client? Future years' intakes will decide, if they want to be part of something that works this way.

  • Unfortunately I haven't been able to watch your video as it won't let me on my comp. It may be because it's quite long, therefor a big file? I'm not too good with technology so apolgies for that. I just wanted to write a quick response to say thank you for taking the time to comment and you are right about what you say about future years intakes will decide whether they want to be part of something that works in such a way.

  • Unfortunately, it's all true. The place is a shambles. The S.U is useless in fighting for students as they are in the pocket of the management. Many staff are demoralised. Many courses are hollow. ARU's reputation amongst many employers is zero - they won't touch ARU graduates. The whole place is designed to get foreign bums on seats and maximise the cash. Compare ARU with Oxford Brookes - both start from the same place in 1992 with the same advantages. I know where I'd rather go...

  • I've just graduated from ARU & have had constant support, guidance and flexibility for three solid years.

I got strong A Levels & offers from other Universities but still chose ARU and don't regret it at all. I've just been accepted by Oxford University to study my Masters, frankly I think you're tarnishing the University name based purely on your own negative experience. I highly recommend ARU, this video doesn't reflect the true nature of this modern, promising University whatsoever.

  • @FrothedCoffee Perhaps you could focus on your spelling and taking responsibility for your education?

  • @godzillalund I so agree with you!!! Most of them are crap!!! Paula is one of them! I had her last year, she did not do anything during lectures and seminars and at the end all the topics for the assignment were so difficult. At the end we tried to do our best but all of my fellow students as well as myself got a really bad mark! What the hell is wrong with that university!!!!!

  • Some teachers are ass hole, specially Paula Burn . She is a shit teacher. I cant believe a university can hire alcohol n tobacco addict crap teacher.. hate her

  • @BenightedFlame college is free, ARU is 4k a year

  • enjoy it, trust me, there is no better place on earth than Cambridge, ARU sucks, but then, there is something so real in it's uselessness. you'll soon move on to bigger better things. but really, nothing will ever be able to touch your time there. Cambridge is the safest, most wonderful, most beautiful place on earth, and i have seen enough of the world to be able to say that. it's the only place where anything is possible, you must simply choose to do it.

  • What you on about in this video, this has happened to me in college and I didn't have any problems, just means you have more time off and your deadlines are extended ! I don't see whats wrong with having a wrong timetable and about choosing modules? So what I wouldn't see them as problems ! You should instead be happy you're on the course ! You're just a pessimist who sees the half full bottle as half empty ! And as for the person who works there ,why don't you quit ? Are you too stupid to quit ?

  • Hi i am a current undergraduate biomedical student at anglia ruskin university. And the university is really good. The lectuerers are passionate about what they teach and the course is really interesting. I would recommend the university to anyone as its peaceful and a lovely place to study. I don't understand why you feel this university is crap as its a brilliant teaching environment. The only issue is timetable but other then that its a nice place. Maybe you studied at chelmsford?
