i met him in corona, ca. at a movie theater. Nicest guy ever, took a pic and signed my shirt.

I was a white boy that lived in Wells Park for a year or so. I met Johnny and knew his brothers well.

Like I said in another comment, He fought mexican style; never backing up, allways forward giving us great fights. De La Hoya did it once and He lost against Shugar Shane Mosley.

Johnny gave us all great inspiration here in Alb. Growing up in Wells Park before Johnny became pro, he was doing his homework on my front porch. Looking back at how we all grew up and where life has taken us, Johnny has done a lot for more then boxing, he has inspired those with drug habits that they too can become someone. What I miss, is seeing his old bomba rides in front of my house on 10th street, down town Burque. Wells Park!!!!
