Vintage Wine Estates discusses social media adoption with Vitrue - When you talk about how quickly someone adopts social media it's all relative. The wine industry has been notoriously slow to adopt any new technology regardless of what area of busisness it is. Fortunately for us, our CEO is very progressive. He is trying to increase direct to consumer traffic and sales, and he knows that one way to do that is to go where the consumer are and where they are having conversations. Advice I would give is to step up and be a champion. Social media is still in its infancy. Here is an opportunity to be creative and innovative. You want to build relationships within your organization and industry as well. Those relationships are just as important as those with consumers. Ultimately, try to achieve some early successes and build upon those successes and make sure they are visible throughout the organization.
