George Clooney is back for ER Finale
I hope you had your TIVOs set this week because ER's top doc finally scrubbed back in--Hey guys-Joslyn here with your daily dose of entertainment scoop on ClevverTV. It was probably the worst kept secret in TV history, but we really don't care. George Clooney did the unthinkable and returned to the hospital drama that made him a household name.
Clooney left the hit show ten years ago to pursue what has obviously become an extremely successful film career. Safe to say that the oscar winner probably never thought he'd return to ER. Well, never say never because George reprised his role for an episode leading upto the big series finale. ER is one of the longest running shows on television right now-it's almost impossible to believe it began its run in 1994.
George returned to the ER as Dr. Doug Ross, who after leaving his initial post went on to become an attending physician on a transplant team in Seattle. That transplant team included another ER alum, Julianna Margulies whose original character Carol Hathaway is now MRS. Doug Ross! According to my calculations, this means that couple has been married for almost a decade and apparently they also have at least two daughters together. On the episode, The couple seemed cozier than ever and I think I speak for fans around the world when I admitt that we couldn't be happier.
But I have to say---that while Clooney's return was inevitably the focus of the episode, it was just the tip of the iceberg. Among the other fairwell bidders in the Clooney episode were ER alumnae Eriq LaSalle and Noah Wylie, who had some great scenes together. And fans were even more excited and sort of shocked to see Hollywood heavyweight Susan Sarandon in the episode alongside Mr. Clooney! Sarandon played a grandmother making the decision to have her grandson's organs donated.
The Clooney episode is just what fans have been waiting for, BUT the actual series finale will not air until April 2nd and viewers still have a big helping of ER ahead of them. Gilmore Girls alum Alexis Bledel is set to appear as an intern in the finale episode. This will mark her first return to the small screen since her own show went off the air.
So, what did you guys think of George Clooney's return to ER? Did it live up to your expectations or leave you wanting more? Leave a comment and let us know!
