I WISH the first Neuro had taken this more seriously...when questioned about leaving the "piece' in...he just shrugged and said, "oh, it's just a little piece"...that "little piece" is now a BUNCH of LITTLE PIECES OF TUMOR which is now growing in my daughters brain...it gets me ANGRY...but I'm sure you can tell that...plus he only took 3 hours to resect the tumor(I have no idea what he was in such a rush for) his whole attitude about the surgery and when she developed a dura leak afterward stunk

NF1 is a congenital anomaly usually this diseases are asociates to other tumors like optic nerve glioma, schwannoma. However all this tumor are suseptibles to total resection. The best chance to do resection is the first chance. In young child chemo is preferable upon radiation because of the growing up.

she was 4-5yrs of age? I'm glad to hear the tumor was removed...did it come back? On a recent MRI...my daughters showed that her FORMER neuro(who said that he had only left a peice in) there was now PEICES...it looked like there were seeds glowing...the new neuro told me that they are watching the peices...and when they get to a certian size...they will be delt with..I know the drill..either more surgery and or radiation/and or chemo..what is your thoughts on NF1 ?

The reason was a tumor. Girl 45yr (symptoms nausea vomiting gait disturbance) and had a sub occipital craniectomy plus posterior arch of first cervical and not always there is the need of shunt. This case the tumor was completely remove

what was the reason for the surgery? My daughter had this surgery because she has JPA...not all the turmor was removed...(augh!!) she also had a lamectomy--major brain squeeze-she now has a vp shunt...
