ANDY'S GANG - The Tiger Hunter - Little Sambo plays Dixie - Froggy vs. Billy

Fair use. A parody. The most notorious qualities of 50s children's television show "Andy's Gang" are accentuated and the pacing has been translated for the modern attention span.

I have showed this to several baby boomers familiar with the show to get their reaction. They mostly remember the show for a puppet character named "Froggy the Gremlin". None of them recalled the treatment of the animals being this bad, or the racism that found its way into the program. Some were disturbed. Some found it hilarious. This was ~children's programming~, and you couldn't get this aired for children today. Some animals ~were~ harmed in the making of this program.

The sponsor of the show was Buster Brown shoes. The show was originally hosted by Smilin' Ed McConnell, in front of a live audience. Smilin' Ed became terminally ill, and the show was switched away from the live audience. A stock shot of screaming kids was used as the audience from that point forward. When Smilin' Ed died, the hosting duties fell to Andy Devine.

Devine was also famous for film and radio roles, probably most notably as "Jingles" on The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok.

On a technical note, some sounds have been added (I tied the tiger chase together with some "music", and created an ending theme), and in one spot, a special effect (Froggy's eye blast). Other than that, there was a lot of subtraction and editing, as each episode was much longer than this 11-minute version, which is created from 4 or 5 different episodes.

@jmgilsinger I tried to change my comment when I saw the later part of the video. I agree with you. and I add that all of the animals were abused. Terrible.
